Jenny was born in Newbury, Berkshire. She show-jumped extensively in juniors, entirely on self-made ponies, and was a frequent winner on the national circuit. At that time she trained regularly with the late Richard Stilwell.
After school she read Business Studies at the University of Stirling, Scotland and at Texas A&M University graduating with an honours degree in Business with specialisations in Marketing and Small Business. She also gained qualifications in journalism from Reed Business Publishing. After some years spent following a more conventional career path, running a corporate hospitality company in London, Jenny decided to return to horses with the aim of competing at the highest level.
An accomplished all-round horsewoman, she has been placed in point-to-points and the ladies point-to-point championship – a hunter chase at Warwick. She has also evented at advanced and international level, and had regular dressage training with Jennie Loriston-Clarke MBE.
In recent years Jenny has concentrated exclusively on show-jumping (the family sport: mother Phyllida (nee Bell) was successful at national level and sister Tina (now Fletcher) was reserve for the Barcelona Olympics). Jenny has achieved considerable success in International Trials and Grand Prix, and has twice been placed in the Hickstead Derby.
She has three exciting new horses to add to her team for next season. Plans for 2006 include several international shows, the Queen Elizabeth II Cup and the Hickstead Derby.
The horses are stabled at Holme Park Farm, Sonning, near Reading in Berkshire where Jenny rents a stable yard from her trainer, international show-jumper James Fisher. She also receives training from Tina and Graham Fletcher. Facilities are second to none and include an indoor school, outdoor school, show arena and derby field. The horsebox is provided by owner Andrew West, and the horses are capably looked after by show groom Nicole Ritchie.
Owners are welcomed at the yard at any time, and are encouraged to become an active part of the team.
